Who started the Civil War?
Although there were many indirect causes of the Civil War, like the book Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe, Eli Whitney’s cotton gin, and many more, there was one main direct cause. This direct cause of the Civil War was when the Confederate soldiers attacked the Union soldiers at Fort Sumter, South Carolina on April 12, 1861.

The two sides that fought each other in the Civil War was the North and the South. The North was known as the Union and they wanted to keep the nation together. The other side of the war was the South. They were known as the Confederacy and they wanted to secede from the Union.

They fought in the Civil War because the Union wanted to keep the country together when the South wanted to separate from the country.

Our topic is important to the Civil War because everyone and everything has to undergo change, and the United States and Civil War had to go through really bug changes in order for our nation to be where it is today.
